Welcome back everyone! Here is December as we stand: Christmas is 13 days away and so far my major achievement is cleaning down the craft table and stacking the Christmas craft projects in the corner for completion. In my head 13 days is plenty of time however I am wondering when I’m going to realise I’m running late. I recently saw a meme on Instagram that said the fact that I procrastinate and still get the job done is the reason I still procrastinate and I’ve never related to anything more. Though in fairness to me, if you had seen my craft table a week you might say that I’ve achieved a minor miracle.
If you guys read my blogpost from last week you know that I had a birthday over the weekend and no, even after that, I still don’t feel like a proper grown up. Evidence of this: I spent an hour the other day decorating my Christmas to do list with foam stickers. Ashley, John and the girls came for a surprise birthday visit which totally made my day. Honestly, my favourite moments from this weekend were Ash and I sitting in my Queen Anne chairs as the sun was just making itself known for the day, with all three of my Christmas trees twinkling in the background both of us knitting our Annie Haas test knits. That and my eldest niece asking me for a pussy hat. I had just one left over from our charity event last year and when she laid claim to it, I couldn’t have been more charmed.
Obviously, she doesn’t get the significance of the hat but when I saw her in it, I felt like I was getting a glimpse of the future. Paige, however, was not impressed that there was only one hat to be had which meant Auntie had to dig through her stash and pull something together quick time. I know I probably cared about it more than Paige did. I’m sure I could have waited a day and she would have forgotten about it completely but I have to admit, I like it when they ask for handmade anything. I’m sure there is going to be a window sometime down the road where they only want brands that their friends are wearing so I’m going to take full advantage of this while I can.
Today on Instagram Ashley announced that she is going to be making a new Mountain Mist sweater by Tin Can Knits for Mila and I’ve been whipping up Tinsel Mitts by Andrea Mowry for a friend who recently moved to Montreal. The other thing that I’ve been doing quite a bit is scouring Instagram for advent deals. Hunter Hammerson is one of my favourite designers, and this advent she’s giving away 25% off a single pattern every day. Today it’s her Permutation hat which I absolutely love. I’m not sure if I’ll ever have the chance to knit it but I’m coveting the pattern pretty hard. This year I made two advent calendars for a few of my fave people. My mom got one that has a daily picture which I thought was a great way to reflect on the year that we have had, and Ashley and my best friend Ana are getting a short story, a part of which I send them every day. I’m blaming that story as the reason why I’m so far behind. I think I underestimated how much work that was going to be but we’re at day 12 and I’m so still going. If I pull it off by some miracle, I may consider doing it again in Jan and opening it up to anyone who would like to read it but more on that later.
That’s it for me for this week! By next week I anticipate being in full on, panic mode as I struggle to get things done but I won’t anticipate that trouble until I get there. Until we speak again, PEACE to you and yours and, as always, happy knitting.

It’s always a pleasure to read your blog. It’s like getting a letter from an old friend. I can totally relate to your comment about the joy of knitting for your nieces. I feel the same joy when I knit for my nieces. I also knit for two little girls of a friend of mine. Last year at Christmas I knit right down to the hour before we went to their house Christmas Eve to finish the girls’ gifts!! I made them hats and scarves. I have a video of them opening their packages. They both loved them. The youngest and more extroverted of the two, squealed with glee when she saw what was inside. It made my day !!! As you can tell from my reference to knitting down to the last minute, I can also relate to your procrastination comment. Although I’m not sure if it’s procrastination or simply a terrible case of overestimating how much I can get done in the allotted time. This year I’m scrambling again to finish knitted gifts.
