Let's Knit Together - Join me in a new year knit along

Who’s up for a fun casual knit along? I have a giant bowl of scraps that I am determined to knit up this year so I thought it would be fun to do this together.
Let’s knit a scrappy shawl!
Here’s the details:
Needles - depends on your yarn choice, here are some recommendations
- Fingering weight - US 5 (3.75 mm)
- Sport - US7 (4.5mm)
- Worsted (two fingering held double) - US 8 or 9 (5-5.5 mm)
Cast on day - Today, January 1st
Finish by - let’s say the end of March, this is supposed to be stress free so let’s not stress too much about the end time right now.
Yarn requirement - your scraps! I have mostly fingering so that what I’ll be using but you can use whatever you have. I might even hold it double so it’s faster and squishy-er and uses up more!
Pattern details:
Cast on 5 stitches
Row 1 (RS): k2, m1r, knit to last two stitches, sl2 wyif. (1 st increased)
Row 2 (WS): knit until the last 2 stitches, sl2 wyif
Rep. rows 1 and 2 until you have reached your desired depth. Change colours as you use up your scrapes.
When your shawl is the desired size, bind off with a picot edge if you're feeling a little fancy or you can opt for the bind off of your choice.
Picot Bind Off as follows: With RS facing, cable cast on 2 stitches, bind off the next 4 sts. One stitch is on the right hand needle, slip it purlwise back to the left-hand needle, cable cast on 2 stitches, bind off 4 stitches. Continue this way until no stitches remain. Break the yarn, leaving a 5”/ 13cm tail, pull it through your last live stitch.
Have fun and make sure to share your progress along the way.
